|
|
| The Witches of Eastwick |
ABC |
Undetermined |
Supernatural |
Based on the
movie of the same name about three witches who summon up the Devil. |
Call it a wild
guess, but I'm betting Jack Nicholson will not be reprising his role as the
Dark One. |
|
| 99 Stories |
AMC |
Undetermined |
Horror; Science
Fiction |
Written by David
Seltzer (The Omen), this
series will be about a group of people trapped in a high-tech 99 story
building. |
Well, I guess
they should be able to get at least 99 episodes out of the concept, right? |
It was supposed
to bow in Fall, but no word has come out on it yet. |
| The Prisoner |
AMC |
Spring / Summer
2009 |
Science Fiction |
A six part
mini-series remake of 1967 series.
According to the AMC press release:
"AMC's reinterpretation will reflect 21st Century concerns and
anxieties, such as liberty, security, and surveillance, yet also showcase the
same key elements of paranoia, tense action and socio-political commentary
seen in McGoohan's enigmatic original." |
Can
they possibly manage to maintian the quality of the original? We need information, information,
information . . . |
They have
attached some big names to the remake.
Jim Caviezel (Passion of Christ) has been signed to reprise the role of Number 6 with Ian
McCellan (Lord of the Rings, X-Men)
pegged to step in as Number 2. |
| Boldy Going Nowhere |
FOX |
Undetermined |

the creators of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia will follow the misadventures of an inter-galactic space crew

Gothic) about a paralyzed forensic psychiatrist with a criminal alter

|
Isn't NBC
already doing this? Well, imitation is
the sincerest form of flattery (or is it the surest path to legal action?). |
| Invisible |
FOX |
Undetermined |
Science Fiction |
A
criminal is given a second chance after he is accidentally turned
invisible. |
Didn't the Sci
Fi Channel already do this several years back? |
|
| Them |

|
|
| The Listener |
NBC |
Summer 2009 |
Supernatural |
Toby Logan (Thirteen Ghosts) plays a paramedic
who also happens to be a telepath. |
|
|
| Alice |
Sci Fi Channel |
Undetermined |
Fantasy |
This six hour
teleplay will give us a modern-day re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland from
mini-series moguls Robert Halmi, Sr. and Robert Halmi, Jr. |
Will somebody
please put a stop to the Halmi clan?
They have already desecrated such fantastic literary works as Ursula
K. Le Guin's Earthsea books
and The Wizard of Oz
with their overblown, hackneyed, cliché-burdoned "re-imaginings"
which are nothing more than hack, television trash. How many more works of literature can they
ravage? |
|
| Awesomes, The |
Sci Fi Channel |
Undetermined |
Superhero; Comedy |
Animated comedy

This series will
combine live action, 3-D animation and 2-D animation in a story about a

Science
Fiction rarely works well in the sitcom format, but people keep trying . .
. |
|
| The Stranded |

- 6 minute "mini-isodes" will run on the Sci Fi Pulse internet

television series. 10 episodes have
been ordered and will include returning characters from the original series
as well as new characters. There are
currently no details on which characters will return and when the series will
air. |
Is this an
attempt by the Sci Fi Channel to make peace with fans still enraged by the
cancellation of Farscape
and/or an attempt to set the stage for a relaunch of the series? |
Ben Browder has
expressed interest in reprising his role as John Crichton in the Web series
although no definite commitments have been made at this point. |
| The Oaks |
Undetermined |
Undetermined |
Supernatural |
A supernatural
series that tells the story of three families across three generations. |
|
FOX chose to
pass on this series and it is now being shopped to othe venues. |
| Star Wars TV Series |
Undetermined |
Undetermined |
Science Fiction;
Fantasy |
This will be a
live action series that will take place between Episodes III (Revenge of the Sith) and Episode
IV (A New Hope) of
the theatrical series. It will take
place in a different part of the Star Wars universe and is not planning to include major characters from
the movies. |
I would say that
I am looking forward to this series, but after seeing episodes 1 - 3 of the
film series it will probably just be another extended commercial for Star Wars merchandise. |
Word is that
Lucas is beginning production on the first 13 episodes that he will finance
then shop to the networks. One could
consider this a favorable sign that he wants to maintain creative control,
but it is probably more about keeping the licensing rights. |
